SDCC 2024: The Biggest News, Announcements, And Trailers From Comic-Con

The 2024 edition of San Diego Comic-Con is here. Taking place in the previously-mentioned city in California, SDCC has become a huge source for news on what's happening in entertainment, whether it be movies, TV shows, video games, and of course, comic books.
From Thursday, July 25-Sunday, July 28, there will be numerous panels dropping upcoming projects, along with a show floor featuring a first look at upcoming products, and like in previous years, the GameSpot team will be on the floor covering the convention. Whether it's seeing what pops-off in Hall H or talking to celebrities appearing at the show, we'll have the latest news constantly being updated right here, in case you may miss something happening over the weekend. There will be continuous updates with links to GameSpot stories as the pieces are published. Trailer links will also be added to other noteworthy events during the show.

1. New Transformers One clips
One of the major panels for Thursday, July 25 of SDCC was for the upcoming animated movie Transformers One panel. Three clips for the new film were revealed to the audience, but they weren't released worldwide. Regardless, GameSpot was in attendance, and here is what happed in those clips.
Transformers One hits theaters on September 30.
2. Transformers One Trailer
It wasn't just clips from the movie that was revealed to everyone in Hall H. Transformers One got its second trailer, which was later released worldwide. It dives in deeper into the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.
3. Lego Mario + Yoshi
A new Super Mario World-themed Lego set is on the way, this one featuring Mario riding on Yoshi.
4. Peacock's Teaser And Launch Date For Horror Series Teacup
On Thursday evening, a teaser for Teacup was released. We also got an official release date for the horror/drama series on Peacock: October 10.
The official synopsis for the series reads as follows: "Trapped on a farm in rural Georgia, a group of neighbors must put aside their differences and unite in the face of a mysterious and deadly threat."
James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring) and Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone) will be serving as executive producers on the series. The show stars Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid's Tale), Scott Speedman (Grey's Anatomy), Chaske Spencer (The Twilight Saga), and Boris McGiver (Servant). The series is inspired by the 1988 novel Stinger by Robert McCammon.
5. Rings of Power Season 2 trailer
Fans of everything from the world of Middle-Earth will be excited to see that Prime Video's trailer for Season 2 of Rings of Power has arrived. On August 29, the first three episodes will be launched on the streaming service.
6. The Boys prequel coming
One of Prime Video's biggest series is the controversial superhero series The Boys. During Comic-Con the streaming service announced a new series: Vought Rising. The series will take place in the 1950s and follow Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
7. The clip from The Crow starring Bill Skarsgård
Skarsgård, who you may know as Pennywise the Clown from It, is playing Eric in the upcoming The Crow, which will be a new adaptation from the original comic book series. There is a new clip, featuring some fighting in a car, along with Eric dragging his broken body through a tunnel.
8. Creature Commandos teaser
Building on the DC Comic movies is none other than the first teaser for Creature Commandos. The animated original series arrives to Max in December. The show will follow Task Force M, which is much like the Suicide Squad but with monsters. The show comes "from the mind of James Gunn," and the action comedy features some very out there DC characters you've never seen--and one you have: Weasel.
9. Like A Dragon: Yakuza casts Akira Nishikiyama
The Prime Video series based on Sega's Yakuza series finally has its Akira. During a San Diego Comic-Con panel, it was revealed that Kento Kaku will take on the role of Akira Nishikiyama. Kaku is best known for his role on Netflix's House of Ninjas.
10. New The Penguin trailer
For those who can't wait to see how the world of The Batman will expand, there was a new trailer for the HBO original series The Penguin, revealed during the convention. The series will see the titular character working to gain control of the Gotham underworld.
11. Giancarlo Esposito's character revealed for Captain America: Brave New World
We already know Esposito is in the upcoming fourth Captain America movie, but during the Marvel panel, it was revealed he'll be playing the leader of the Serpent Society, Sidewinder.
12. Thunderbolts footage
For the 2025 movie The Thunderbolts, new footage of the upcoming flick was revealed to those in the Hall H panel. While it wasn't released publicly, here's what happened.
13. We finally know the full title of the Fantastic Four movie
Piece-by-piece, we're learning more and more about the Fantastic Four film. It starts filming in late-July, and we learned the full name of the movie: The Fantastic 4: First Steps.
14. Finally, adamantium--also, someone references the dead giant body in the ocean.
During the Captain America panel, it was revealed that adamantium is coming to the MCU--that's what Wolverine's bones and claws are made of. How is it coming back? Well, it all leads back to the giant, dead Celestial body from the Eternals. That's right, someone other than She-Hulk finally referenced Eternals.
15. Two Avengers movies coming out--one with a new name.
Avengers 5 and 6 are coming in 2026 and 2027, and the names of the films were revealed: Avengers: Secret Wars (which was the original name when the movie was announced) and Avengers: Doomsday.
16. Robert Downey Jr. is back... as Dr. Doom
The biggest surprise of the night was Robert Downey Jr. showing up in a Dr. Doom costume. He's back in the MCU, but this time, as a villain.
