Defying midlife haze, two friends seize an unlikely opportunity to reinvent their lives, quitting their jobs to restore an old bowling alley and serve the “world’s greatest pizza.” The film takes a comedic look at the existential crisis many face when trying to find meaning and relevancy at midlife. Despite controlling bosses, dead-end jobs, and broken relationships, the two leads must awaken hibernating courage and resilience in order to take new risks and keep dreams alive. (Aspiration Media)

There are films with no action where I silently pray in my mind (despite being a sworn atheist) for a sudden and completely unnecessary shootout, just to make sure that I haven't already died of boredom. And then there are films with no action where I can have a great time because the plot makes sense and the story feels like it was written by life itself. Phoenix, Oregon clearly belongs to the latter group. 4*+ ()
