Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Francois, a reclusive novelist whose wild imagination gets the best of him in this delightful blend of fantasy and adventure. Becoming the lead character from his own book, the dashing spy-hero Bob Saint Clair, Francois is hysterically thrown into the middle of his latest espionage case in a hilarious whirlwind of chases, betrayals, confrontations and mutual attraction. I never really gave it a chance as a kid, and I never saw The Man from Acapulco. I'm glad I finally got around to it now because I found it extremely funny, in places where I certainly wouldn't have laughed as a kid. Belmondo is just great and very natural as a comedic actor. Jacqueline also lights it up a little more. ()
Twice the best. The best parody of trash literature with an invincible agent and the best film with Belmondo. Plus the beautiful Jacqueline Bisset, so there's no argument. Smart and funny entertainment. ()
