The actress Sziráky Lucie is forced to move from her mansion in Budapest, as, prior to his emigration, she married a count and that was considered a historical crime in 1950. She ends up in a small village with her hat-box and looking-glass, where there is a campaign against the old ruling classes as well as for increased production. Lucie's routine as an actress is soon put to use. Lucie becomes popular with her fellow sufferers and both the local teacher and the police captain fall in love with her, which results in a lot of complications. Eventually, she is offered the chance to act again and can play the main character of "The Csárdás Princess", even if watched by plain-clothes policemen. She sings the entrance-song, "Oh, Bloody Life" with the greatest empathy. (texto oficial do distribuidor)
