ASC member John Bailey was elected President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in August 2017. He has been a member since 1981 and a governor for 14 years. He served for three years as the vice president and chair of the Preservation and History Committee, which initiated the Films on Film series in collaboration with the Academy Film Archive and the Herrick Library.
