For all the anticipation I had for this film, it ended up being almost unbearably naive at times. The two storylines were worlds apart in quality. The first one, about a group of young people heading to Leipzig for a protest, started off with a nice period feel but quickly devolved into a bore, not helped by the lackluster performances. The second, more entertaining storyline followed the actor Otto, played by Jörg Schüttauf. I found myself much more engaged with this part — the humor was a bit heavy-handed, but the plot about an actor being mistaken for a local communist official moved along nicely. It’s a shame; this film had the potential to be so much better and more entertaining. ()
