Sword Oratoria: Dungeon ni deai o motomeru no wa mačigatteiru no daró ka? Gaiden

Unfortunately, I have to side with those who did not think well of this anime series and consider it more pointless than interesting. I would say the main problem for me was Lefiya, who has quickly earned the position of the most irritating anime character of this year’s releases. So, what new did this anime series bring to the world of DanMachi? There is some further/new information about what is going on behind all the events in Orario. If it were not for the last episode, it would be absolutely insufficient to at least somewhat justify the importance of this stand-alone anime series. There is some action, and if it were not for the last episode it would have been pretty much a no-brainer for me. Once again, there is some fan service, mostly yuri (because the elf girls in this show are often into the other girls). However, I did not mind because there was already a lot of fan service in the original Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, so I guess I am used to it. This time, the Bell x Ais encounter was from the other side, which I also quite enjoyed, and the moments when Bell appeared were among the better ones. There is a really good last episode, which has some momentum, and there was an especially cool speech by the little blonde boy, which did not strike me as inspired by Bell but rather by Aragorn. And then? Unfortunately, there was a lot of the annoying Lefiye, so I felt like turning it off sometimes. The first half of the season is utterly boring, during which everything was predictable, the characters barely developed, and Ais constantly had the same soulless expression. Many characters are from one big family, of which I am perhaps going to remember three of them by next week or the week after. There is a rather interesting female villain, who I was almost rooting for sometimes. To put it all together nicely, Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side does not offer much, much less than I was expecting. It certainly was not half as interesting as the whole idea of looking at it from the other side promised. 4/10. (01.07.2017)
