Dziennik Anne Frank

For the past two years, I've watched films that didn’t excite me at all, so I hoped this time the film wouldn’t disappoint. And it didn’t. The Germans once again proved that they know how to make war films, and the result is worth it. The Diary of Anne Frank starts quite innocently, but then it unfolds into an intimate drama, leaving the viewer unsure of what might happen in the following minutes. The contrasts between happier and more difficult moments (especially at the end) are beautifully depicted. It was interesting to see how the actors portrayed the psychological exhaustion of their characters after more than two years in hiding. The girl who played Anne Frank handled her role very professionally for her age. The ending was very harsh and sad, and definitely not for the faint-hearted. The film nearly earned a five-star rating from me, but some scenes felt unnecessary and didn’t quite fit into the story. I give it 85%. (20.11.2016)
