These young sword fighters-in-training take on the establishment, coming of age and a mystical evil society. Often on the sly, their missions are to defend the homeland, remain loyal to France's young King Louis, and protect the honour of the musketeers against the evil Cardinal Mazarin. The series is a visual indulgence with its era-based wardrobe fit for kings, paupers and, of course, musketeers and its elaborate European inspired set, built in Maple Ridge, BC, where the majority of filming took place. Karen Cliche has never had any luck with shows, but it certainly made it more palatable if she's already become part of any Canadian TV entertainment team. It was all those shows like Vampire High, Mutant X, or Adventure Inc., while Young Blades was the last interesting show. I didn't even watch Flash Gordon anymore because of her. The premise of Young Blades isn't entirely a bad idea, but it takes being a fan and not having high standards. Queen Of Swords was similar to this.
