Biografie
Santiago Eduardo Urueta Sierra was a Mexican film director, actor, and writer. During the early 1930s, he distinguished himself as a talented adapter of renowned literary works, as seen in The Count of Monte Cristo (1942; co-director: Roberto Gavaldón), The Black Pirate (1944) and El recuerdo de aquella noche (1945). With various strokes of excellence like the musicals Del can-can al mambo, Serenata en Acapulco (both 1951) and Música, mujeres y amor (1952), the melodramas The Magnificent Beast (1952) and La perversa (1954), horror films like El Monstruo Resucitado (1953) and El espejo de la bruja (1960), the Westerns El jinete sin cabeza (1957) and Cinco asesinos esperan (1964), or the luchador enmascarado-martial arts shocker Blue Demon vs. the Satanic Power (1966), Urueta showed himself as a genre genius for all seasons.
