Student nurse Asuka (Atsuko Maeda) moves into a rundown apartment building with her parents and younger brother. Kept awake at night by muffled scratching noises from her neighbour's room, she grows weary of the other inhabitants and fearful of the spooky building. For about half its run, The Complex is an excellently made, atmospheric and gripping ghost story, but then the creators wanted it to make sense, which leads to it no longer making any sense. The result is nothing but average, even though some of the scenes are beautiful in their horror.
