I haven’t seen such an amateurishly shot movie in a really long time. While Naomi Watts has already shown that she can be completely ordinary, her performance in this movie almost went against the film-making craft. The most exciting scene of this movie was definitely the one of Naomi sitting on the toilet. ()
The positive aspect of the film about outsider actors who sweep every audition in the hope that the production will notice them and open the door to their dream fame is the participation of Naomi Watts, who is not only an excellent actress but also feels at home in these waters - simply put, she knows exactly what the film is about. Her colleagues do the same, as each one of them acts with enthusiasm. Ellie Parker is a typical indie film, maybe too independent, and it is one of those that seem to have been written on the spot in collaboration with the entire crew. It contains a number of interesting and relevant moments, as well as helpless passages and even situations that go below the level of general taste, such as the scene with blue vomit. Overall impression: 60%. ()
Ellie Parker is a feeling-based indie film about a fumbling actress and the City of Angels. I can’t deny that I was bored in places and laughed in others. It is realistic, doesn’t pull punches and rises and falls with Naomi Watts, who acts as if here life depended on it. It looks a bit like her fictional diary from breaks in shooting Mulholland Drive.
