We treat the emotional component of cooking food as a seasoning. You add salt, you add sugar, you add vinegar, you add nostalgia. Have you seen, heard, experienced and slavered Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011)? So you can take it as an unofficial pilot of the Chef's Table, which makes that format and concept flawless. After all, the very first episode was filmed by the creator of the aforementioned Holy Grail of art food porn with "overlap". In the six episodes, it is as much an audiovisual feast (see for yourself ) as complex and fascinating portraits of artists similar to each other, their philosophies, works, controversies, successes (failures), etc. This corresponds to the fact that each of the portraits is special and is captured in a completely different way. And with the exception of Dan Barber's profile, which is slightly outshone by the others (profile, not Barber), it's a masterpiece and a must-watch for anyone who doesn't see food culture just as an annoying daily energy input obligation or a kind of unjustified bubble around hipster food blogs. However, the portraits about life stories and approaches to food/the world are so interesting and so fascinating that it will be a success even without that food superstructure.| S1: 5/5 | S2: 5/5 | S3: 4/5 | S4 Pastry: 4/5 | ()
