KEVIN TUREN earned a producer credit on the Treehouse Pictures drama Arbitrage, written and
directed by Nicholas Jarecki, starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon. The film was an official selection at Sundance, setting it on course for international critical acclaim and earning Gere a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the film (Best Actor in a Drama).
After this successful collaboration Turen joined Treehouse Pictures full time and since then has worked as a producer on a number of films under the Treehouse banner. These releases include At Any Price, with Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron, which premiered at the 2012 Venice Film Festival and screened at Toronto and Telluride; and All Is Lost, starring Robert Redford, an official selection at Cannes. All is Lost has received rave reviews and netted a Golden Globe nomination for Redford's tour-de-force performance.
Next to be released are Franny, written and directed by Andrew Renzi, starring Richard Gere; and 99 Homes, written and directed by Ramin Bahrani, starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon.
Projects in development at Treehouse include A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, about the life of legendary children's television icon Fred Rogers, written by Alexis Jolly ("The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "Stand Up 2 Cancer").
Turen began his career at Capital Entertainment, which grew into First Look Studios. There, he was influential in building the company from four employees to more than 150. Turen was promoted from a creative executive to senior VP of acquisitions and eventually to president of production. While serving in these posts, he was responsible for acquiring and distributing more than 100 films including The Proposition, The Dead Girl, An American Crime, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Paris Je t'aime.
Turen left First Look to become president of Infinity Media. During his time at Infinity, the company was involved in a string of successful films including Capote, Just Friends, Push, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and Bug. In 2011, after leaving Infinity Media, Turen met and collaborated on Arbitrage with Justin Nappi, the founder and president of the then- formed Treehouse Pictures.
Turen graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English and critical film studies.
