Dans une petite vallée du Wyoming, la famille Starret accueille avec bienveillance Shane, un cowboy solitaire. Mais ils ne se doutent pas que celui-ci est un ancien chasseur de prime. (LaCinetek)

Despite the year it was made, I saw the film for the first (and last) time today. It left a rather unfavorable impression on me (a euphemism). I have the book at home, and I do like to reread it from time to time, so it’s the filmmakers who are to blame for all the shortcomings of this film. Unlike other westerns, this one failed to offer a good atmosphere, there wasn't any suspense, the action scenes looked ridiculous, the acting performance of the lead actor was pathetic. I could go on. ()
"Shane" is one of the other classic westerns, a movie with the name of the main hero in the title. Something like "Django" or maybe "Winnetou," which I will mention later. It is a classic American western, which you can simply tell at first glance, in this case, it is additionally enhanced by a rugged style, in which the landscape and individual characters are presented. The opening scene with the boy aiming at the deer - or is it a stag? - is an example of how close to nature these movies can sometimes be. At the same time, they are also an example of how virtuous people can be and how honorable they can be. However, alongside them, there are always villains who are somehow clear from the first sight. There is nothing kind about them, and you can recognize them immediately. More: http://www.filmovy-denik.cz/2013/02/shane-1953-70.html ()
