Chinese war drama in which the coastline villages of China are under attack and seizure from Japanese samurai warriors. Leaders Commander Yu (Sammo Hung) and newly-ascended General Qi (Vincent Zhao) must strategise to defeat the pirates and prevent them from escaping once again, as they did during the previous attack in 1557. In 1561, the pirates return and advance on the cities of Taizhou and Xinhe. Qi pleads General Yu to give the authority to create and train an entirely new army. Can Qi devise a plan to stop the pirates from invading and gripping the two cities? (Well Go USA Entertainment)

A brisk historical blockbuster from China with a great Vincent Zhao and a funny looking Sammo Hung (fortunately he was just a glimpse here, as he looked terrible). There's quite a lot of action here and thankfully it is R-rated, although it's not overly brutal, occasionally a head or arm go flying. Unfortunately I found the action too monotonous and uninspired towards the end. The story is very weak, but I wasn't bored. 65% ()
