The usual lavish Arabian adventure tale that is great to look at. De Carlo is the princess and Greene the blacksmith who throws aside his anvil and picks up a sword to free his oppressed people from the evil despot George Macready. Greene uses every trick in the book to defeat the wily prince, and he even manages to marry De Carlo (he tricks her) to further exasperate the ruler. Macready counterattacks and kidnaps the princess in hope that her father, the Caliph, will aid him in quashing the rebellion. Greene rescues De Carlo, who then falls in love with her husband, and all is well in Baghdad. Half the fun of THE DESERT HAWK comes from spotting the bizarre array of supporting players who went on to do other things. Hudson plays an army captain, Besser (one of the replacements for Curly in The Three Stooges) plays Sinbad, and Gleason plays Aladdin! The whole thing was directed by Fred de Cordova who made his later career directing Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show." (texte officiel du distributeur)
