Indian mainstream cinema, which is entertaining enough to keep you engaged for three hours, features great characters, plenty of action, occasional dramatic moments, beautifully far-fetched scenes, along with musical numbers that are often movies in themselves, and all of this combined can truly captivate you. It's not exceptional, but it's fun. ()
A terrible concoction that primarily entertains through idiotic and amateurish flattering the poetics of soft erotic clips of silicone MTV artists. The action scenes are brilliant, and it seems that all the missing lines were used by the creators to wire the actors. I'm not well versed in the Bollywood menagerie, but Main Hoon Na is in a way amusing (wildness, awkwardness), and in a way annoying (Americanization of speech and image). ()
21 Jump Street meets India/Pakistan Reunited and the result is so common. In the sense of a Shahrukh Khan movie. Everything of course stands and falls on his cute/action/funny escapades, but personally, I would have welcomed a more stellar cast in the other roles as well. I don't enjoy Sushmita, Zayed, or Amrita very much. While Kabir and Naseeruddin only appear for a moment, we have to make do with Kiron and Boman who are only good passers. But on the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan in high school is a topic that can please. Or is it ultimately Grease vs Back to the Future? However, Karan Johar is a real pervert. ()
