The Serpent's Way

The widow Tea and her two children lead wretched lives as tenant farmers in the far north of Sweden. The period is the latter half of the 19th century, a time of widespread poverty. The women of the house, first the mother and later the daughter, have to pay their debts to the landlord - the only merchant in their community - with their bodies. (texte officiel du distributeur)
