For young Joanne, an American living with her grandparents (Paul Scofield and Rosemary Harris) in Holland, the war seems worlds away. But when the Germans start crossing over the border, and her mother is killed in Rotterdam, Joanne is thrown headlong into the restrictions and rules of Nazi occupation. Forced to give up her room to quarter a German officer, it seems that normalcy is far out of reach. Joanne finally reaches her breaking point when it appears that The Little Riders, a group of statues held near to the hearts of local villagers, may become the next victims of war - a sacrifice this brave little girl simply cannot fathom. Malcom McDowell also stars in this extraordinary drama. (Echo Bridge Entertainment)
