Jacques Tati

Jacques Tati (1907-1982) was a French screenwriter, director, actor and comedian. His first film was the short School for Postmen (L'école des facteurs, 1947), whose postman Françoise also appeared in his feature debut The Big Day (Jour de fete, 1949). He earned worldwide renown for the comedy Mr. Hulot's Holiday (Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, 1953) and My Uncle (Mon Oncle, 1958). In the same genre, he later made Playtime (1967) and Traffic (Trafic, 1971).
