During an all-night, drug-fuelled party at an abandoned asylum known for the horrific treatment of its patients, a group of ordinary teens decide to experiment with the occult, mysteriously leading to a violent possession. In an effort to find help, the group rushes to escape, only to find themselves locked inside with no means of communication. In an attempt to save their friend possessed by the demon, the amateurs try to perform an exorcism. Instead of solving the problem, they unleash an even more powerful and vengeful spirit, one with a distinct motive and which wants them all dead. What started as a harmless paranormal experiment turns into a fast paced bloody paranormal nightmare. (Eagle Entertainment)

The money spent on this film could have been used for something more useful, like, for example, providing Marcus Nispel with long term psychiatric care. ()
The trailer was okay, the ratings were terrible, and I still gave Exeter a shot, and in the end it wasn't bad at all. It's a fact that the movie is stupid to the point of being painful, the behavior of the characters and the script are among the worst in the category, but I'm not allergic to that. The film keeps a fairly decent pace, has a few decent jokes, it's even filmed decently and the last half hour is awesome with perfect gore, which makes it a wonder that even bloody fans are so critical of the film. A few scenes were very good, and the ending itself with the head cut in half and the toothbrushes stuck in the eyes, it’s not something you see every day. Not much to recommend it, but a relatively fine B-movie. 55% ()
Exeter is an achievement of modern horror in the worst sense of the word. It's an unoriginal spectacle that isn't entertaining, but it tries at all costs to come up with a story that's currently trending, hoping to increase the likelihood that someone will watch it. But it lacks anything extra, not to mention that the film isn't actually scary. I find Marcus Nispel a boring director who can't get anything out of the subject matter. ()
