This is a beautiful movie and I would like to thank Cinemax again for giving me the honor of getting to watch it. Istanbul was a Turkish-Hungarian co-production. It’s about a woman who can’t handle living in Hungary anymore after her life was shattered to pieces by her husband, and the husband then turns her into a lunatic. And since Turkey isn’t so far from Hungary, she escapes into a Turkish hospital to get some rest and think a little about her life. Once she arrives in the capital of the former Osman Empire, you get to realize that even though it’s still technically in Europe, it’s a whole different world. The Turks are their own kind and Istanbul is a great example of how to get to know people who love talking. The director, Ferenc Török did a pretty great job making this movie. I really enjoyed Istanbul. I enjoyed it mostly because it allowed me to remember the times when I myself was walking the streets of the city. It was all really poetic, as was the ending too. There’s nothing else to expect from a movie like this one and I have to say I felt really nice after I watched it. ()
