I consider this installment in the Asterix cartoon series comparable to its predecessors and successor. It’s got everything, including pirates and an argument over fish, and Asterix's adventures with other cultures are not out of place in terms of innovation. Sometimes I'd like to see his trip to Spain in a movie, for example. Overall, I have no problem with this "problematic" piece. ()
As it's been mentioned here a few times, this episode is really the worst of the lot. It desperately lacks the imaginative Asterix humour that so adorned the forays into Egypt and Britain. Everything is presented terribly dry and without much inspiration. Fortunately, Asterix and Obelix are such likeable characters that neither the boring direction nor the absolutely terrible Czech dubbing can sink their adventure completely. ()
Asterix, who is way beyond me these days. The story tries to be really wild, to make it seem like a great idea, but it's just plain crazy and, moreover, overdone. One character in the story - a Roman - says that without the drink, the Gaulish village would be nothing. Well, let's face it, it's true. If it wasn't for Asterix and Obelix. Panoramix and Idefix, the village is really just a terrible bunch of characters. ()
An average animated film that disappointed me on the one hand, but on the other, it had nice music and sometimes funny scenes and one-liners. ()
