Kenny Powers is hooked on drugs, washed up after a series of failures, but still thinks he's on top of the world. He rolls back into his hometown after even the worst baseball team finally kicked him out, completely unaware that his glory days are long gone. In his mind, he’s still the best, and he expects everyone to bow down—or at least keep up with him if they’re not too high. Eastbound and Down is the kind of comedy series that hooked me from the first episode. Kenny’s character, with his shameless arrogance, reminded me a bit of House MD—these kinds of antiheroes really seem to steal the show these days. The humor’s sharp, a little crude, and definitely not for everyone, but it worked for me. I’m looking forward to seeing how much further Kenny spirals from here.
