Tráiler 2

Sinopsis(1)

(Imagem Filmes MX)

inglés For a moment it seemed like a good idea, fortunately it quite quickly fades away, but the final impression is all in all quite bland and unclear. It's good that there isn't too much of the surrounding sauce and the like, but the characters behave strangely, even idiotically, throughout most of the time and despite attempting a twist, it didn't make much sense to me. The horror side naturally works poorly and it's again a piece prone to being forgotten. ()

inglés I was actually quite surprised. It's definitely the more acceptable mainstream for me, not as obnoxiously generic and clichéd as say Night Swim or Imaginary, but going for a slightly different route that's reminiscent of the recent Talk to Me. A girl inherits an ancient house from her father that hides a secret in the basement, there's a witch who has the ability to turn into someone dead, but only for a certain amount of time and there are rules to follow. The look of the creature is great, technically the film is on the level, I was intrigued by the whole mythology around the witch (I have more affection for them than for ghosts), the scares don't work and it's not scary, but it's quite suspenseful, it's not boring and the ending is definitely unexpected. Decent. 6/10. ()

inglés As I won't lie, it surprised me. The whole movie is so strangely isolated, lifeless, and self-contained (the only character "outside the story" there is the guy who repairs that Žiguli on the street at the beginning and he also seems somehow inappropriately suspicious), that I eagerly anticipated the terribly shocking Shyamalan-esque twist, which it will reveal to us at the end with great pomp. But no. However, it is then a challenge to shoot a story in which there is nothing else but the story itself, which is based solely on the motif of two rules that must not be broken at any cost, while we know from the very beginning that nothing else will be done throughout. We are willing to forgive much to characters about whom we know something and can empathize with their motivations for illogical actions, but it is difficult to overlook the characters who practically do not exist outside the story and the only thing we know about them is that they know exactly the same two things we know. You watch their forced stumbling through studio interiors with the same disdain as when the film tries to convince us for a moment that a rich white man between the ages of 30-60 could possibly be a positive character. Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that I have not seen such lazy work with tricks in a long time. The film overuses terribly awful CGI, which does not try to disguise itself in any way, and in most cases, it is simply a resignation from any creative makeup or trick solution that would entertain you to explore and marvel at while watching. Basically, Baghead is one of those many horror debuts where proof of the director's abilities mainly comes from the fact that he did not touch anyone during filming, did not beat his wife in a taxi, and some unpaid intern managed his Twitter account just to be sure. Let Jason Blum's pen taste good to him in the future. ()

inglés Very, very bad. I'm surprised that the ratings here are quite high above 50 percent. Sterile and unimaginative direction, a painful script (dull characters, confusing rules, predictable twist). Baghead strikes me as an amateurish film whose makers have somewhere scrounged just enough money to give it at least a technically decent facade. ()

inglés Meh. If you expect a (below) average B-movie, you will get that, if you expect something more, don't even with A Maldição de Baghead. The idea is quite original, but that's about it, because the film fails to exploit even half of it. We are given a basic outline of the story, but it is far from being finished, explained or in any way well grasped, it is just awkwardly thrown at the viewer, making the whole film at first glance an incredibly cheap piece of crap of bland dialogue, uninteresting characters and an even more uninteresting (read totally unoriginal) house in which the action takes place. To our misfortune, there are no good scares, atmosphere, suspense or in short any horror element that should lure a fan of the genre not only to the cinema but also to watch it at home. Moreover, countless things don't make any sense at all, are not told to us at all, and the whole thing is too rushed, straightforward and lacking the necessary foundation or backstory on which the film could build anything for 90 minutes. Good as a 10-minute short benefiting from a central idea, but as a full-length feature on the screen, very tedious and boring. ()
