Transporting gold, or 52 tons of Norwegian national reserves being pursued by occupiers, monotony, and an attempt to add comedic elements. It could have had the precision of The Train with Lancaster (not the bomber), but it lacked Frankenheimer's touch. There could have been someone melting those bricks and pouring them on the heads of the Nazi Viseryses, but it didn’t have Finnish hero Sisu. When, at the end, the ex-Stalinist Grieg started shitting out crystalline limestone again on the ship, the captain’s line: “Shut up already...” seemed fitting. ()
