An unconventional approach to the crime series, where serious situations full of corpses alternate with comedic and sometimes bizarre moments. But I must admit, it has its charm. I haven’t read the book and have no plans to, but the casting of the two main protagonists was spot on. Sandra Oh as the slightly eccentric investigator and the mesmerizing Jodie Comer as the devilish killer who revels in her profession (quite twisted). I didn’t mind the civilian feel at all; aside from one shootout, there’s no action to be found, as that’s not the essence of the series. On the other hand, it offers a few strong emotional moments (the stabbing scene in the Berlin nightclub is a prime example). I didn’t know Jodie Comer before, but now I’ll have to start following her work. It’s a bit frustrating that they didn’t wrap up the ending, as they had a clear path to do so, but I understand that they want to continue with a second season due to its success. And I can’t really fault them for that. I give it 78%. ()
