Plots(1)

A satirical comedy from the last year of real socialism. The main protagonist unwillingly climbs up the social ladder but the higher he stands, the more horrible it is. Just like the haircuts of his identical twin daughters. (Summer Film School)

English "One grows up three times in life, and each time loses illusions. The first about their parents, the second about themselves, and the third about their children." Bob's monologues are a testament to this, right after poking fun at the socialist regime, in which an ordinary person had to have at least some minor ambition to avoid feeling down. Lasica is excellent. His father looks lost in a strange timelessness, yet fully aware (see the passage with the Russian teacher). ()

English My dear friends, I can recommend watching this film only if you don’t have anything better to do. It is funny and interesting only in places, so all that’s left are the actors who aren’t bad but could do better. The only good thing about this film is the fact that it’s leaning into communist bigwigs. Too bad that the behavior of people in power hasn’t really changed since then. Had Jiří Kodet known that his character would perfectly correspond to businessmen and politicians of 2014, he might have been surprised. ()
