The film's star, Jiří Krampol, is the common denominator of these five tales investigating marital relations. French Triple Combination: What might happen to a successful businessman who unabashedly puts work before his attractive wife? The Halo: Mr. Wilde is a quiet, helpless, and henpecked husband. His ear specialist is the only one who knows this isn't entirely true. Drum Solo: Long ago Bimbo's wife resigned herself to his childishness. Their encounter with a crook changes everything. The Isle of Love: Although on vacation, Mr. Titus can't stop trying to solve his firm's irresolvable problems. So Mr. Lax leads his friend in a completely new direction. Waterloo: A repressed civil servant seems to be an obstacle for his attractive wife and ambitious daughter. When faced with the hopelessness of argument he escapes into the Napoleonic age. Situation: Prague to Brno on a Student Agency bus and the passengers are shown Olmero's latest film to pass the time. I had three options: look out the window, sleep (I wasn’t tired) or watch this film. I chose the third and, what can I say, this film is weird, it doesn’t have the forced humour of Soukup’s movies, which I didn’t it, actually. I even believe that Olmer wanted to say something funny and to the point (he expressed says so in one interview I’ve read). If that's the case, then given the result, the once-skilled director's muse has left him for good, or he's gone mad. This movie is a concentrated borefest, made up of five incredibly banal stories with an incredibly banal twist, without a shred of humour. It's not even bad enough to be entertaining, at least at the expense of the filmmakers. This movie is nothing, like pissing in the sea. ()
