English From the very beginning, Starry Eyes felt extremely strange and disjointed to me. My biggest issue was probably with the main actress, who simply didn't appeal to me at all. The script evokes mixed feelings and plenty of questions, but doesn't provide many answers. Basically, nothing much happens until about the sixty-minute mark, and only in the last half hour does it start to build up to something, for which I give those two stars. Because I wasn't expecting such brutality and decent gore. If I were to judge the story and the point, these aspects were almost worthless to me. I will probably forget about this movie quickly because even the decent half-hour doesn't balance out the previous boredom. ()

English This thing is completely oozing with "Aronofsky" (which needn't necessarily be a bad thing), unfortunately I couldn't help internally rating it "WTF" at some points and I really don't mean that as a positive. It's certainly thought-provoking as an allegory for a life full of personal ambition and desperation to succeed in the big movie world. The transformation of the main character is interesting on the whole, but only to the point where the plot starts to veer towards the overly spiritual. I understand that the sectarian theme is actually secondary here and only serves as a means to satisfy its own ambitions, yet I couldn't help feeling that it was actually overblown in some places. And the soundtrack, which in the vast majority of cases would be more suited to a giallo film, didn't add much to it either. But the van gore scene was worth it. ()

English Aptly set among the acting scene in Los Angeles, Starry Eyes is a horror allegory about the foulness of excessive ambition that overcomes people and makes them lose their friends and even themselves. “Climbing over people” becomes “climbing over corpses” here, because after the interesting, mysterious and psychological first half, the film becomes a bloodbath. Which doesn’t do it much good. Afterwards, it just tries to save itself with a wannabe artsy, but nevertheless original ending. ()

English Ha, so this is a very decent surprise! (the review may contain minor spoilers). From the beginning the film kept my attention thanks to the charming and desirable main character, who would like to be an actress in a movie, but the "casting " is completely different than expected. Something uncomfortable is in the air from the start, and it's clear that the performers are not going to be completely normal people. What initially appears to be an art drama turns into a little brother of films like Thanatomorphose and Contracted, and culminates in a carnage featuring the most brutal murder in two years that will make you shit yourself!!! Perfectly shot, extremely violent, disturbing, slow, solidly plotted, sleazy and sick! Awesome and if it weren't for the slower pacing, full score! 80% ()

English A more literal and drastic version of Black Swan. It balances on the border of a serious parable and a B-movie caricature, and both approaches clash a lot against each other. I’m not ecstatic, but it does have a couple of effective scenes. ()
