English I really liked it. I fell in love with the quiet hero who kept everything inside himself in his own wonderful way. At times it was hard to keep track of who was against whom, but that made the series all the more interesting. Plus, enough people died that I was surprised and disgusted at the end (but that's going into spoilers; in any case, 3 times off the bat?! Why?!). There were some tone deaf spots here and there, but I'll forgive them with the grace of a doe because there was some great music playing. Watching it was exhausting, I haven't had my heart pounding so painfully in a long time. I could write another emotional rant here about how it affected me and what I felt when while I was watching it, but nobody cares anyway. Better to watch and experience it. It's not romance, it's raw meat and that it simply doesn't warm you up. A strong 4 stars. ()

English I haven't seen such a perfectly written and conceived script in a long time. Most of the twists and turns were totally unexpected for me, so I enjoyed them to the fullest. The series is not unnecessarily drawn out, every minute has its own quality. The characters – both positive and negative – are not lacking in personality. My sympathies were won not only by Shi Hyun but mainly by Jin Sook, as well as Safari and Scale. I also liked the little drop of romance, and at the same time I'm glad they took it slow. I think because of that, Soo Min never stopped entertaining me. The Cruel City is a huge surprise for me and will keep me up for a long time. ()
