Yeah, I quite liked this. It's just funny enough, it doesn't overdo it, and there are interesting characters, including Kate Hudson, whom I don't usually like much. Zach Braff shows that he is a good writer and a good director, and fortunately, he doesn't get too carried away with pathos. Instead, he simply shows that life is sometimes good and sometimes unbelievably hard. ()
This films portrays the life of one Jewish family who has lived through some hardships but is quite likable. Too likable, perhaps. It was shot in such a way that it was impossible not to grow fond of this family. Add in some geek jokes, Sheldon Cooper and one dunderhead who doesn’t know what to do with his life, because in his heart he is still a little kid with a head full of ogres, videogames and dark mages. Oh, and he’s a genius, by the way. Wish I Was Here is an independent American movie with everything that entails, which tells its story in such a way you just can’t dislike it. ()
