We meet Freckles, the orphan lad, as he is crossing a stream on his way to the McLean lumber camp in quest of a job. Now Freckles meets Laurie Lou and Mary Arden, the benevolent young school mistress, who succeeds in getting him a watchman's job at the camp. From there on it is merely a matter of time until their friendship blossoms into romance. In his bashful way Freckles wins Mary's affection by rescuing the impish Laurie Lou from beneath a falling tree and later saving the youngster from the bandits. (official distributor synopsis)
