A spectacular Warner film starring Marion Davies and Clark Gable that has everything one could want from a visit to the movie theater in 1936. Two great stars (the mature Marion is very enjoyable, Clark is a bigger dandy from film to film, and when he first kissed Marion in Polly of the Circus it was about something else entirely), witty dialogue, action scenes from the boxing ring and of course the grandiose Ziegfeld Follies-style musical sets, which were so monstrous that it was necessary to invest in the biggest studio yet and raise the roof.
