Pretty young actress Nancy Barklay heads to Rio after being picked to star in a new play. However, she doesn't realize that her mother, Frances Elliott, also plans to be in that very production. The situation leads to a desperate campaign on the part of both women to land the juicy part... and to win the same man. Then, a further complication arises when somebody overhears Nancy rehearsing and assumes she's talking about her real life. Soon, everybody's jumped to some wild conclusions about Nancy...
