Jon (Sharlto Copley) wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Fleeing the scene, he breaks into a nearby house and is met at gunpoint by a group of terrified strangers, all suffering from memory loss. Suspicion gives way to violence as the group starts to piece together clues about their identities, but when they uncover a threat that's more vicious - and hungry - than each other, they are forced to figure out what brought them all together before it's too late. Open Grave is a terrifying and twisted thriller that will keep you guessing until the bitter end. (Signature Entertainment)

The most confusing horror movie of the year, sometimes it feels as if entire scenes were missing. Although in the end the plot is not entirely pointless, the screenwriters were unable to tell the promising story and the unsettling mystery gradually turns into an unintentionally funny chaos, from which, after a certain point, it’s impossible to leave with your head held high. The direction has no bite, the performances are bland and the script is incompetent. A lot of things got screwed up here. ()
I was really looking forward to Open Grave. I wanted to see if López-Gallego gained any new experience since the satisfying Apollo 18. At first, I absolutely had no idea what to think about it all. The script seemed suspiciously dumb at first, and I started to feel a bit embarrassed, wondering if I was just wasting my time with another uneventful nonsense. After all, the ratings kept decreasing day by day. I gave it a chance anyway, and I did the right thing. The actors were mostly unsympathetic, and their dialogues were just jibberish throughout the whole story, but the director pleased me with the ending like he hadn't in a long time. Due to certain plot twists, I didn't know how to rate it until the last moment. For now, I'll give it a strong three, maybe I'll come back later and add more. In the end, the idea with the open grave didn't turn out as futile as I expected. ()
