I have to admit that this version is quite an interesting dramatization, in which coldness and callousness prevail, and the first episode is far different from the next two. The atmosphere is particularly stifling, the landscape ominous... Unfortunately, Gillian plays her Havisham as the Winter Queen, which isn't quite what the film needed. David Suchet, on the other hand, is almost unrecognizable under the make-up. This bicentenary adaptation of Dickens’s 200th birthday definitely doesn't rank among my favorites. However, it's a subject I'm happy to see in all its forms. #bbc ()
