English Lee Tamahori delivered a solid old-school survival film, featuring a strong cast and breathtaking exterior shots that take your breath away at times. However, the film is quite uneven. The first two-thirds are impressive; the film kept me on edge throughout, and the sequences involving the threatening, aggressive bear were genuinely intense. I also enjoyed the verbal exchanges between the excellent Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. To this day, I don’t understand how the action scenes look better than many films today, which proves that not always do digital effects create a more watchable experience. So, kudos for that. However, once the bear is eliminated, the film seemed to lose its momentum. I expected a more impactful conclusion, which somehow got lost along the way. It felt like the creators didn’t quite know how to wrap up the story, and it showed. It’s a shame because the film had set up a more than decent drama, and I anticipated a more developed follow-up. 67% ()

English My favourite film with a mega-charismatic Tony, a believable touch of psychology in a crisis situation where humanity merges with animal instincts, beautiful and untamed nature and one of the best physical fights between man and wild animal ever seen on film. It could have been shorter and the various narrative devices could have been connected more convincingly, but that doesn't change the fact that I'll always enjoy rewatching The Edge, reliving it with the same intensity. 85% ()

English The Edge is today a legendary survival darma, with Anthony Hopkins in an unusual role, Alec Baldwin in his best years, and although Elle Macpherson is only for a moment, her delicacy and feminine beauty fit perfectly with the wilderness of the local fauna and flora, and the initial calm before the storm nicely entices the viewer. The scenes with the grizzly are thrilling, as well as the well-thought-out psychology and behavior of the characters. ()

English An excellent, thrilling, smart and gritty survival drama with an intelligent man-eating swine! Anthony Hopkins steals the whole film for himself, he is smart and resourceful as always, but he also delivers his wisdom and ideas, which are far more interesting than a "how to survive in the wild" manual. Alec Baldwin is a good partner to him, but only a shadow in terms of acting. 80%. ()

English An excellent adventure drama about a journey from the wilderness back to civilization. Anthony Hopkins as always acts perfectly and Baldwin is also extremely good. The scenes with the bear are filmed superbly and are sufficiently suspenseful. The music from Jerry Goldsmith, with beautiful motifs is also amazing. And the wonderful landscape. 70% ()
