Very average, partially quite boring crime story with a weird plot. Depardieu and Marceau show their usual standard. And after five years, without even realizing that I had ever seen this movie before, I watched it again and was even more bored, literally unbearable. The content of The Confused Police is marked by a number of unnecessary scenes with incredibly long dialogues, characters behaving illogically to the point of stupidity. Sandrine Bonnaire, in an unconventional role as a hooker, shows us beautiful breasts and a "dense jungle". If it weren't for such well-known and even legendary French actors, I would have thought it was some amateur debut. ()
The movie is as tough and uncompromising as its title. It’s all about brutal honesty. Gérard Depardieu plays a tough, sometimes less-than-fair cop, and the story unfolds alongside his messy, complicated life. People say French crime dramas are the best, and this one definitely ranks up there. It’s gritty, relentless, with no humor to soften the blows, but everything—especially the intensity—feels like a completely natural part of being human. ()
