Sony sets the price of some PS5 launch titles at £70
Those days are gone.
Sony has confirmed UK pricing for the PlayStation 5 launch lineup - and some of the games cost £70.
Demon's Souls, Destruction AllStars, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition all cost £69.99.
Meanwhile, Sackboy A Big Adventure costs £59.99, and the standard version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales costs £51.99.
The cost of next-gen games is a hot topic within the industry, with some publishers signalling their intention to raise prices as development costs increase.
Just this week, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick defended his company's decision to hike the price of the 2K basketball game on next-gen. In an interview with Protocol, Zelnick said: "The bottom line is that we haven't seen a front-line price increase for nearly 15 years, and production costs have gone up 200 to 300 per cent.
"But more to the point since no one really cares what your production costs are, what consumers are able to do with the product has completely changed.
"We deliver a much, much bigger game for $60 or $70 than we delivered for $60 10 years ago. The opportunity to spend money online is completely optional, and it's not a free-to-play title. It's a complete, incredibly robust experience even if you never spend another penny after your initial purchase."
Meanwhile, Sony announced the UK price for the DualSense wireless controller: £59.99. The Pulse 3D wireless headset costs £89.99. The PS5 HD camera costs £49.99. Its media remote costs £24.99. And the DualSense charging station, which charges two DualSense wireless controllers, costs £24.99.
