Introduction

Chronic inflammation is a hallmark of numerous diseases, significantly impacting global health. Although chronic inflammation is a hot topic, not much has been written about approaches to its treatment. This thematic issue aims to showcase the latest advancements in chronic inflammation treatment and foster discussion on future directions in this critical field. We encourage submissions exploring a wide range of topics, such as disease prevention through inflammation reduction, including the gut microbiome, and lifestyle interventions. We welcome research on drug development, clinical trials, and specific applications in cancer and autoimmune diseases. We are looking to make progress in answering the question - how exactly can we reduce levels of chronic inflammation to improve prognosis in a range of diseases?

Keywords

Chronic inflammation, cancer, autoimmunity, microbiota, anti-inflammatory therapy, resolution of inflammation, disease prevention.

Sub-topics

Ø  Disease prevention through inflammation reduction: Can we identify and target chronic inflammation early to prevent future illness?

Ø  Gut microbiome as a therapeutic target: How can manipulating gut bacteria influence inflammatory processes?

Ø  Translational research: Bridging the gap between promising drug candidates and clinical application.

Ø  Clinical trials of therapeutic approaches: Evaluating the efficacy and safety of new treatments for chronic inflammation.

Ø  Inflammation in specific diseases: Understanding inflammation's role in cancer and autoimmune disorders, with a focus on potential treatments.

Ø  Markers of chronic inflammation: Novel methods for identifying and monitoring inflammatory states.

Ø  Disease modification therapy: Strategies that not only manage symptoms but also slow disease progression.

Ø  Lifestyle and dietary interventions: Can specific modifications manage chronic inflammation?

Ø  Models of chronic inflammation: Development and utilization of in vitro and in vivo models to study inflammatory mechanisms and test potential therapies.
