Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC Separate Ways Shows its speed
When the Resident Evil 4 Remake was released earlier this year, there was an outcry asking about Separate Ways. A staple to the Resident Evil 4 base game in which we played as Ada in her own mission on the island, and the many times it intersected with Leon’s own campaign. It was eventually revealed that this DLC would be coming at a later time and with a price point attached to it as well.
Well, over the weekend, DreadXP was able to get a sneak peek at the upcoming Separate Ways DLC and got to see some pretty cool stuff in action. Immediately, we see the shifts that Capcom makes with certain relationships, but I wanted to touch on some of the cooler innovations and additions presented to us.
Firstly, we get to see Albert Wesker, and it’s never a bad time (for me) when he shows up and instantly starts stealing the scene. But, after giving Ada some orders to retrieve the ember, the source of the Las Plagas parasite that infected the villagers and cultists in the game. We see Ada whip out her grappling hook, and it adds an interesting level of vertical thinking not present in the base game. We won’t be swinging around like Spider-Man, but it gives us more avenues of travel when present.
There seems to be an emphasis on Ada sneaking in the opening parts of what we were shown. While she can handle herself in a fight, she seems a lot more agile than Leon and seemingly fewer hits to take her down. We even see Ada use her grappling hook to go from one rooftop in the castle area to another and take down some enemies on top of it before escaping.
Capcom really wanted to show off this grapple mechanic because next, we see Ada wielding it against an El Gigante, with the ability to grapple to different rooftops in what seems to be a fully destructible area. It also helps show off just how good Resident Evil 4 Remake is again, and with this high-flying action, it gives us a taste of the action we will experience in the Separate Ways DLC when it launches September 21st for 9.99$ on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox Series X and S. On the same day, a Mercenaries free update will be released, adding both Wesker and Ada to the roster.
