Our Cox Innovation Lab is where technology-driven learning happens. Featuring state of the art equipment including 3D printers, interactive digital displays and high performance computers for graphic design, animation and gaming, the Cox Innovation Lab provides a creative hands-on learning environment where students of all ages experience the joy of the creative process through technology.
The Conrad Prebys Foundation Art Studio
A multidisciplinary hands-on makerspace, the Conrad Prebys Foundation Art Studio hosts art classes, cosplay design workshops, creative writing workshops, game design, and a comics literacy lounge. Join us in this creative space to learn new skills and develop your artistic capacities in a variety of mediums.
Plan a Field Trip to the Museum
The Comic-Con Museum Education Center offers field trips year-round for school and community groups.
Our staff of professional educators design programming that targets the California Common Core State Standards in STEAM, Literacy, and Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) using components of fan culture such as comic books, graphic novels, film, television, digital and other media.
Our field trip options include:
Education and community groups can take a self-guided field trip through the Museum’s exhibits with optional scavenger hunt
STEAM learning takes the lead with our makerspace workshops and allows learners to explore the technical side of fandom. Learners of all ages might find themselves creating:
- 3D cardboard art- Design templates courtesy of Cardboard Superheroes
- mechanical Scribble Bots
- designing games
- and much more!
All activities are designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards and California State Literacy Standards related to media production.
Comics 101/Visual Art When learners read and make comics, they demonstrate powerful literacies! Using comics as tools, learners in our Comics 101 workshop will
- create comics
- look for text patterns in comics
- read comics
- and even take one home!
Activities are designed to meet California State Standards in Visual and Performing Arts, as well as K-12 Literacy Standards.

Education Access Fund
The Comic-Con Museum believes financial constraints should not be a barrier to learning opportunities at the Museum. Our Education Access Fund provides scholarships for qualifying youth and families in San Diego County to visit the Museum and engage in our educational activities. Together, we can share the magic of Comic-Con with all San Diego County learners!
