Licensing
This image is ineligible for copyright and therefore is in the public domain, because it consists entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship. |
This image shows a flag, a coat of arms, a seal or some other official insignia. The use of such symbols is restricted in many countries. These restrictions are independent of the copyright status. This tag does not indicate the copyright status or the source of the attached work. A normal copyright tag, a source (and a detailed non-free use rationale, if necessary) are still required. See Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Uploading images for more information. |
This work is now in the public domain in Iran, because according to the Law for the Protection of Authors, Composers and Artists Rights (1970) its term of copyright has expired for one of the following reasons:
In the following cases images fall into public domain after 30 years from the date of publication or public presentation: (Article 16)
The media description page should identify which reason applies. |
Per U.S. Circ. 38a., Iran is not a participant in the Berne Convention or any other treaty on copyright with the United States. As such, works published by citizens of Iran in Iran are usually not subject to copyright protection outside of Iran. Hence, such works may be in the public domain in most other countries worldwide.
Iran has enacted a copyright law which came into force on 12 January 1970 and communicated the official English translation to UNESCO on 20 April 1970. |
This work is in the public domain in the U.S. because it is an edict of a government, local or foreign. See § 313.6(C)(2) of the Compendium of U.S. Copyright Office Practices, 3rd ed. 2014 (Compendium (Third)) . Such documents include "legislative enactments, judicial decisions, administrative rulings, public ordinances, or similar types of official legal materials."
These do not include works first published by the United Nations or any of its specialized agencies, or by the Organization of American States. See Compendium (Third) § 313.6(C)(2) and 17 U.S.C. § 104(b)(5). A non-American governmental edict may still be copyrighted outside the U.S. Similarly, the above U.S. Copyright Office Practice does not prevent U.S. states or localities from holding copyright abroad, depending on foreign copyright laws and regulations. |
