Painting by Frederic Remington who died December 26, 1909. Image is scanned from the dust jacket of Tell Them We Are Going by John H. Monnett ISBN 0806133031 and a black and white version is on page 158. It is credited to the Western History Department of the Denver Public Library. The painting appeared in the August, 1897 issue of Harper's New Monthly Magazine. The scene pictured is after the final battle of the army during the Fort Robinson massacre of the Cheyenne who escaped from Fort Robinson.
