Trent Romens (born January 31, 1992) is an American blues singer-songwriter, and guitarist . Romens has released two full length studio albums, Aware and Alive. He was born in Minneapolis and began playing the blues at the age of 11. By the age of 13 Romens was playing with some of the Minnesota greats such as Wain McFarlane, Barbara LaShore, Willie Murphy, and Jimi “Primetime” Smith [1]. Critics have compared Romens' music to that of Jonny Lang.

Early life

Romens was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1992, one of four children raised by his mother and father. In his early years Romens was active in many sports, and was surrounded by music. Romens began playing music at the age of 11. Beginning acoustically Romens grew fond of the blues, and transitioned to electric at the age of 13.

Career

Early on Romens began preforming with an audience. At the age of 13 Romens played his first gig at Famous Dave's in Minneapolis. At 19 Romens became the frontman for his first band. Romens first album Aware was released in 2011 and consisted of ten songs, eight of these songs originals and two covers of a couple of blues greats; St. Louis Jimmy’s “Going Down Slow” and Big Bill Broonzy’s “Key to the Highway” [3]. Backing Romens for his first album Aware was John Wright (bass, and the co-producer); Toby Marshall on Hammond B-3; Jordan Carlson on drums and Tony Paul on percussion; and backup vocalists Cate Fierro and Shalo Lee.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page). Aware even made it on to the Grammy entry list for best blues album. [4] Romens appeared on the local Twin Cities news channel KARE 11 to promote the album.[5]

Romens second eleven track studio album Alive was released in 2013. Supporting artists on this album were, Billy Thommes on the drums, John Wright on bass, Toby Marshall on organ, Ricky Peterson on organ. Featured on this album were, Johnny Becker of Baker London on guitar and vocals, Rosie Harris on vocals, Allison Scott on vocals, Davina Sowers of Davina and the Vagabonds on vocals.
