The Wood Blewit Lepista nuda is a purple mushroom that can be found under conifer and deciduous trees. It is edible only when cooked. Even after its cooked there many people who are allergic to it. The allergy differs between people. Consumption could cause a few days of sickness and even in some cases death. When picking this specimen, choose the younger fresh ones[citation needed]. When serving it as a meal try a little piece first, if you have trouble breathing or increase of heart rate then immediately stop eating.


Identification

This mushroom can be from purple to purple-pink completely. The gills are not attached to the short stem. Mature specimens have a darker texture and flatter cap, also they can rot easily. Younger ones are lighter with a bell shape caps. When they are raw they contain some mild poison.

Habitat

They are usually located under pine trees, and deciduous trees.
