Creating pages by copying other sites

You're clearly violating the rules on copyright infringement with many if not all of your new species pages. You need to stop creating new ones now, and either go back and rewrite them from scratch with broadly useful encyclopedic knowledge (the information you're giving is of use only to biologists) that does not copy directly from your sources or have them deleted. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 17:44, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, didn't notice the lack of copyright on the linked page. That said, the material on the linked page is nigh unto useless for a general knowledge encyclopedia. It includes too little context to be useful to anyone but a biologist. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 17:46, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GSautter

Please do not delete taxonomic treatments that are copied from Plazi servers. Here's why:

The text used in the articles stems from a scientific publications (the references). As a pure description of nature, these pieces of text do not qualify as intellectual property and therefore are not copyrightable. The copyright notice in the referenced pages clearly states this.

The purpose of the texts being replicated in Wikipedia is to

  • make them available to a wider audience
  • have them embedded in Wikipedia's greater network of the knowledge of mankind

Therefore, please allow the article to stay online even though the texts are replicated from another source.

Myrmoteras

All the descriptions of new species (aka new discoveries) are all we know about them at the very moment. There is nothing more that can be added at the moment, other than rewrite what is published and now available on this page. There is always a great interest in the discovery of new species in the public, that is, however, not so much aware of at what rate this occurs. Every single species is part of our global heritage and thus deserves a place in Wikipedia. Wikipedians will certainly contribute substantially to the knowledge of many of the very creatures we know so little about by refining the pages in the future.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for because it is admittedly a role account used by workers at Plazi. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

True, I am one of the people behind Plazi, as I openly state in my user page. Our goal is to make knowledge available to all users of Wikipedia, and thereby to a way broader audience than the users of biosystematical web portals. This is why I create articles on species, which I think is a just cause - please correct me if I am wrong.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=True, I am one of the people behind [[Plazi]], as I openly state in my user page. Our goal is to make knowledge available to all users of Wikipedia, and thereby to a way broader audience than the users of biosystematical web portals. This is why I create articles on species, which I think is a just cause - please correct me if I am wrong. |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=True, I am one of the people behind [[Plazi]], as I openly state in my user page. If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:
