Mr. Bennet

File:MrBennet.jpg

Mr. Bennet, played by Jack Coleman, is known as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses" due to his style of eyewear and the mystery surrounding his character.[1] He first appeared in "Genesis" at the apartment of the late Chandra Suresh in India and followed the man's son, Mohinder, to New York. The adoptive father of Claire Bennet, Mr. Bennet is revealed to be fully aware of her abilities in "Don't Look Back", having apparently stolen the tape that Zach filmed of Claire testing her healing factor powers. His reaction to the information about his daughter seemed mixed.

Mr. Bennet's role in the series is ambiguous. In "Collision", he captured Matt Parkman and recorded the telepathic policeman's brainwave patterns, with help from his associate, the mysterious man Matt saw in "One Giant Leap". Also in that episode, he told a restrained Matt, "I don't work for an organization with initials" in response to inquiries as to whether he works for the FBI or the CIA. Later, in "Hiros", Mr. Bennet and his associate kidnapped Nathan Petrelli after finding him in bed with Niki Sanders. Mr. Bennet also ordered his associate to erase the memory of Brody Mitchum, the student football quarterback who tried to rape Claire.

In "Better Halves" Mr. Bennet ordered Eden McCain to keep Mohinder Suresh from returning to India and questioned her about what he has learned about the other characters' abilities. Mr. Bennet thought that Hiro Nakamura's ability to stop time was "cool", but ordered Eden to bring Isaac Mendez, whom they call "precog", into the lab. He is disturbed by Hiro's declaration to Peter Petrelli, "Save the cheerleader. Save the world." In this episode Mr. Bennet also arranged for his daughter, Claire, to meet the couple who he identifies as her biological parents: Hank and Lisa. However, Mr. Bennet eavesdrops on her meeting with them from another room, and as Hank and Lisa leave, he thanks them for assisting him.

Mr. Bennet is scheduled to become a full time character on the series as of the 11th episode.[2]

Lyle Bennet

Lyle Bennet, played by Randall Bentley, is the younger brother of Claire Bennet. He has a stereotypical dislike for his sister. His mother, Sandra Bennet, implied in "Better Halves" that Lyle is a hypochondriac.

Sandra Bennet

Sandra Bennet is Claire Bennet's adoptive mother, played by Ashley Crow. She has a pet dog, "Mister Muggles", whom she has tried, with little success, to have win a dog show. In "Better Halves," she discusses her efforts to breed Mister Muggles but says the dog doesn't want to mate with any species with "poo" in its name. She does not seem to be aware of her husband's activities or her daughter's powers. However, after Claire met her biological parents, Hank and Lisa, Sandra Bennet told Claire that she and Mr. Bennet tried unsuccessfully to find her biological parents when she was a baby because they thought she might have a rare chromosomal disorder.

Charles Deveaux

Charles Deveaux is played by Richard Roundtree. He is the father of Simone Deveaux and a former patient of Peter Petrelli. He is currently in a coma. Simone believed that Peter was "like a son to him" and that Charles improved under Peter's care.

Audrey Hanson

File:Audrey Hanson Heroes.PNG

Audrey Hanson is an FBI agent played by Clea DuVall. While at the scene of a murdered family, she witnessed Officer Matt Parkman find the only survivor, a little girl (Molly Walker), in a hidden room. Hanson became suspicous of Parkman for discovering the girl so easily, and arrested him when he revealed that he also knew the name of her prime suspect, Sylar. However, when Parkman convinced Hanson that he learned of these things through his telepathy, she asked him to help the FBI find Sylar. Later, a man believed to be Sylar unsuccessfully attempted to seize the girl from police custody. During his escape, she was nearly forced to shoot herself by the man's apparent metaphysical abilities, but was saved when Parkman intervened.

Mr. Linderman

Mr. Linderman is a "businessman" with apparent mafia connections who has made unscrupulous business deals with some of the main characters, usually from off-screen. Nathan Petrelli was in the process of contacting Linderman during "Genesis". Later in the episode, Linderman sends two thugs to Niki Sanders' home to collect on a money loan, which she cannot repay. When the thugs are killed, he sends a corrupt police officer retrieve her in "One Giant Leap". In "Collision", one of Linderman's subordinates gives Niki the opportunity to repay her debt by helping to blackmail Nathan, and she eventually complies. Nathan, however, realizes that Linderman needs him to win the congressional seat he is running for if Linderman was willing to set up such elaborate entrapment, and uses this to his advantage. Working out a deal through Linderman's associate, he persuades her to "donate" $4 million to his campaign (rather than the originally-agreed $2 million) and suppress the tape.

Ando Masahashi

File:AndoMasahashi.jpg

Ando Masahashi, played by James Kyson Lee, is a co-worker and friend of Hiro Nakamura. In "Genesis", he is skeptical of Hiro's powers and jokingly dares Hiro to teleport into a women's restroom. He also is shown at one point to be watching Niki Sanders's web cam, and near the end of "One Giant Leap" he indicates that he knows where she lives. Hiro later convinces Ando of his powers and the need to travel to the United States to fulfill their "destiny". They run into trouble in Las Vegas when Ando convinces Hiro to use his powers to cheat while gambling but are beaten up by their victims. After a brief argument over their current situation, Ando parts company with Hiro and goes to find Niki. When he arrives at her home, he discovers it has been put under heavy guard by police and is nearly arrested. Niki tells him that there is difference between how she might act online and how she really is off-line. Ando leaves, somewhat depressed. Back at the casino parking lot, he finds Hiro with their Nissan Versa rental car. They patch things up between them and agree to continue their journey. Ando can speak and understand English and, unlike Hiro, knows how to drive a car.

Eden McCain

File:Heroeseden.jpg

Eden McCain,[1] played by Nora Zehetner, is a former neighbor of Chandra Suresh, whom she called "Papa Suresh" due to her inability to properly pronounce his name. She is now a friend and neighbor of Chandra's son, Mohinder, while he is staying in New York. Since "Don't Look Back", she has been aiding Mohinder in his investigation into his father's death. In "Better Halves", Eden kisses Mohinder on the lips as he prepares to travel back to India with his father's ashes. His resolve about not returning to the United States shows signs of weakening at this newfound affection Eden has shown towards him. Later, a phone call between Eden and Mr. Bennet reveals her to be a spy, as she reports on Mohinder's actions and what he has learned, including Future Hiro's message about the cheerleader and the abilities of Peter Petrelli and Isaac Mendez. Mr. Bennet orders Eden to prevent Mohinder from leaving the country and to bring in Mendez. During this telephone conversation, Eden appears to be removing pins from Suresh's map.

Brody Mitchum

Brody Mitchum,[3] played by Matt Lanter, is a quarterback on the football team at the fictional Union Wells High School and is presumably a classmate of Claire Bennet. He first appears in "Don't Look Back". During a celebratory bonfire in "One Giant Leap", Brody and Claire wander off to the bleachers, where Brody attempts to rape Claire. He accidentally kills her during the struggle, but in "Collision", he is shaken to see her alive again. After Claire discovers that Brody has raped at least one other girl, she convinces him to let her drive them both home in his car but then rams the car headfirst into a brick wall. The on-line comic story for the episode reveals that Claire only wanted to frighten Brody into thinking twice before hurting anyone else, and she drags his unconscious body from the car when it catches fire and ultimately explodes.[4] When he wakes up and sees Claire unharmed, he realizes that she isn't a normal human being. His memory was wiped by Mr. Bennet's assistant, the Haitian, after the accident.

Janice Parkman

Janice Parkman, portrayed by Elizabeth Lackey, is the wife of telepathic police officer Matt Parkman. Their marriage has been troubled for some time, with both becoming increasingly distant. Janice blames their problems over his jealousy of her prospering career while his has been stalling. However, when Matt disappears for a day, she is truly worried about him. Matt then tries to fulfill her every need by reading her thoughts to improve their marriage. At first she thinks that he must have cheating for him to be so attentive, but she is ultimately delighted by his efforts.

Angela Petrelli

Angela Petrelli, played by Cristine Rose, is the mother of Peter and Nathan Petrelli. In "Genesis" she is still not quite recovered from her husband's death six months ago and has been doing odd things like shoplifting ever since. In "Don't Look Back" she confesses to Peter that he is her favorite son. She also reveals that Peter's father suffered from depression and actually committed suicide, causing her to worry that Peter has inherited the condition.

Heidi Petrelli

Heidi Petrelli is Nathan Petrelli's wife and is involved with his strategies for his bid for congressional office. She first appears on screen in "Nothing to Hide", played by Rena Sofer.

Chandra Suresh

Chandra Suresh is Mohinder's late father, whose appearance on a book cover is played by Erick Avari, although a photograph of him and Mohinder seen in Genesis shows a different actor. Chandra Suresh was the author of "Activating Evolution", a book which appears to explain the reason so many people with powers are suddenly appearing. He found a means of tracking and locating potential powered people. He was also connected with Sylar, whom he referred to as "Patient Zero". On a taped telephone conversation, however, he wanted nothing to do with Sylar and insisted the strange man stop calling him (Erick Avari provides Suresh's voice on this recording). Before his death, Suresh kept a male lizard named after his son.

Sylar

The name Sylar first appears on the label of a cassette tape during "Genesis". In "Don't Look Back", he is revealed to be suspected serial killer. In a conversation that Mohinder Suresh and Eden McCain hear on Chandra Suresh's answering machine, Chandra identifies the caller as Sylar. In "One Giant Leap", a man shrouded in darkness who attempts to kidnap Molly Walker from police custody is believed to be Sylar.

Molly Walker

Molly Walker is a little girl whose parents have been murdered by a serial killer believed to be Sylar. She first appeared in "Don't Look Back", when she is found by police officer Matt Parkman while hiding behind a hidden panel under a staircase in her house after her parents' murder. Molly's dead mother is suspended five feet off the floor, pinned flat to a staircase banister by numerous knives. Molly's dead father is seated at a table, frozen solid, with his skull sliced open and his brain removed. Matt Parkman overhears her thinking "Please don't hurt me. Please don't hurt me." and follows her thoughts to the cupboard beneath the staircase, which has been barricaded with furniture that Matt removes. In "One Giant Leap" Molly has been taken to FBI headquarters in Los Angeles, where a man believed to be Sylar breaks in and tries to drag her away. She is again saved by Matt with the help of FBI agent Audrey Hanson. Molly is played by Adair Tishler.

The Haitian

The Haitian,[5] played by Jimmy Jean-Louis,[6] was first seen in a bar by Officer Matt Parkman in "One Giant Leap". Matt was using his powers to eavesdrop on other bar patrons, but when Matt attempts to read the thoughts of the Haitian, he experiences total silence. Matt then falls unconscious as he tries to leave the bar. In the following episode, "Collision", the Haitian is shown to be working with Mr. Bennet as they hold Matt Parkman captive. Bennet says the Haitian is "special", just like Matt, and maintains that Matt will be unable to use his telepathy while in the Haitian's presence, although this is quickly proven false. Mr. Bennet then orders the Haitian to remove Matt's memories of his capture, after which Matt is returned to his normal life. Later, Mr. Bennet tells the Haitian to capture Nathan Petrelli from a Las Vegas hotel room, but Nathan quickly escapes. In "Hiros," Mr. Bennet orders the Haitian to "hollow out" Brody, after which Brody no longer recognizes Claire or even his own name. The Hatian wears a necklace with a strange symbol resembling a RNA molecule. While he is not called "The Haitian" in the series, this is how he is referred to by the writing team.[5]

Hank

Hank is a man who identifies himself as the biological father of Claire Bennet in "Better Halves." Mr. Bennet arranges through an adoption agency for Hank and his former girlfriend, Lisa, to meet Claire and answer her questions. Hank and Lisa tell Claire that they were high school sweethearts who split up before her birth. Hank wanted to keep Claire, while Lisa wanted to give her up for adoption. Hank tells Claire that he has a family history of heart disease and cancer. After the meeting, Hank tells Mr. Bennet that he was glad to help as he knows what it is like to be Claire's age and to have questions. Mr. Bennet thanks him for his assistance.

Jackie

Jackie is a cheerleader and high school classmate of Claire Bennet. She is an obnoxious rival and dramatic foil for Claire. Jackie is eager to be the center of attention and takes credit in "Don't Look Back" for a rescue Claire performed in "Genesis". In "One Giant Leap" she reveals that she plans to run for class president with "good deeds" as her platform. Jackie is also apparently jealous of Claire and Brody Mitchum. She is also a gossip, according to Brody. Jackie is played by Danielle Savre.

Lisa

Lisa is a woman who identifies herself as the biological mother of Claire Bennet in "Better Halves." Mr. Bennet arranges through an adoption agency for Lisa and her former boyfriend, Hank, to meet Claire and answer her questions. Hank and Lisa tell Claire that they were high school sweethearts who split up before her birth. Hank wanted to keep Claire, while Lisa wanted to give her up for adoption. Lisa says Claire probably thinks she is a terrible person for wanting to give her up. Lisa tells Claire that she has diabetes. After the meeting, Mr. Bennet thanks Hank and Lisa for their assistance.

Tina

Tina is played by Deirdre Quinn. She is the romance-novel-loving family friend of Niki Sanders and her son Micah Sanders. Niki has confided in Tina about a possible alternate personality she has and various blackouts she's experienced. Tina believes Niki's troubles stem from psychological damage as a result of Niki's dealings with the mob. Niki often leaves Micah in Tina's care.

Zach

File:Zack (Heroes).jpg

Zach is played by Thomas Dekker. He is a high school classmate of Claire Bennet and one of the few people to know of her powers. In "Genesis", she had him make a videotape of her using her abilities. In "Don't Look Back", this tape disappeared, and he promised to look for it. In "One Giant Leap", he continues to encourage Claire to take her powers seriously. Claire expresses that she just wishes to live a normal life.

Zach has a profile on myspace.com, where he notes his sexual orientation as "Not Sure." Some of the cheerleaders heard rumors that Zach had an erection in the boy's locker room, mentioned in "Don't Look Back." Later in "Better Halves", Zach tells Claire how special she is. Claire asks if he is flirting with her and Zach replies immediately that he is not. Zach then asks Claire if she plans to "come out" to her family about her powers. Also, on his MySpace page, Zach notes he is Wiccan.[3]
